Do you know how The Comfy Pets came to be?

In 2017, I was working as an Office Manager for an Architecture & Interior Design firm in NJ. I then decided to move to Philadelphia and needed to make extra cash to help with moving expenses. So, I began pet sitting for friends and coworkers as a hobbyist, and continued on-and-off for the next two years.

After returning to NJ, a friend and pet parent suggested I turn my side gig into a full-on business with a website and everything. This seemed like very daunting task at the time but they appreciated my work, identified a need in their neighborhood, and saw potential in me and the industry. In April 2019, a few online searches later, I discovered the flourishing world of pet care. The more I learned, the deeper I fell in love with this path that aligned with my values, needs, and desires:

• Opportunity to help others
• Work with animals
• Create my own culture and traditions
• Be my own boss
• Build a meaningful community
• Support local causes
• Enjoy time freedom
• Flexibility to travel

After several confusing and exciting months of research, planning, decision-making, and taking action on what was needed to start and successfully run a business . . . The Comfy Pets LLC was born!

I mention them constantly but I definitely have to thank Pet Sitters International for being a guiding light. Becoming a member was one of the easiest decisions because they provided countless resources that helped me along the way and looking to the future.

Whatever you do and wherever you are, I hope you take a moment to reflect on your own journey and appreciate all you’ve accomplished!
