Comfy fam…this heat is seriously NO joke! How are we all surviving?? On the extra hot days when it feels like 100 or more, my human body definitely shows signs of it’s effect. For example, I sweat nonstop, breath heavily even when walking slowly, get a headache, and feel more tired than usual. And this is after I take precautions such as drinking cool water throughout the day, sticking to shaded areas, and blasting the AC when I’m in the car.
Back in June, I wrote this email with suggestions on how to PREP for the Summer heat. However, now that we’re fully in it, I think it’s important we review some signs of heat exhaustion in pets. They don’t sweat like we do and unfortunately can’t speak our language to let us know directly how they’re feeling. But we can continue to learn their language!

If you believe your pet is experiencing ANY signs of heat exhaustion, below are some things to try before immediately taking them to the vet. However, I always recommend first calling your vet because they know your pet and may have other suggestions.
I’m all about prevention and precaution so I hope you’re never in a scary situation with your pet having heat exhaustion! However, it’s better to be safe than sorry so keep these tips in mind next time you notice anything off with them on an extra hot day.
